In fact, this little keyer has so many
features we won't
even try to list them here, but feel free to review the manual for the
PK3 keyer (PDF format)-- just
click here. As the best single-chip keyer on the
market, the
PK3 has been a best-seller in its own right, and is the basis of the MX
Sprint keyer paddle and Palm Radio's Code Cube.
Construction is simple, and the
operating guide portion
of the manual has clear and concise instructions for programming and
operating
the keyer. One hole must be drilled in the rear of the radio,
for
the single pushbutton switch.

If you are unfamiliar with the
difference between Iambic
A and Iambic B modes, just select B. A and B are
timing standards
adopted by different keyer manufacturers over the years. They
relate
to what happens when you release a
“squeeze.” Most electronic keyers
use B mode, including AccuKeyer, AEA, Heath, Nye, MFJ, Jackson Harbor,
and TenTec. Ultimatic is a pre-iambic keying mode in which
the result
of a squeeze is that the keyer will switch to the last lever pressed
rather
than alternating dits and dahs.
